Getting in shape doesn't always have to involve complicated workout routines or drastic lifestyle changes. Here are 3 easy and sustainable ways to improve your physique:
Sometimes working harder IS smarter!
Think small changes. Incorporate physical activity into your daily routine by choosing the more rigorous path: take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk or bike to nearby destinations, or parking farther away from your destination to add extra steps. Do this as a rule, and don't break your rule! These small changes can gradually increase your daily activity level without requiring a significant time commitment. If you're craving salt or sugar-- drink water first!
2. Drink a glass of water before you reach for something sugary or salty. Studies have shown that when we are craving sugar or salt, we are actually reacting to being dehydrated. So hydrate first, and then see if the craving is real. You may be surprised to find that if you hydrate and wait 60 seconds, the craving often disappears.
Refine your tastebuds-- eat plants!
3. Eat mostly plant-based. Numerous studies have shown that putting plants at the center of your dishes is a game changer in terms of maintaining a healthy weight and for longevity. Challenge yourself to go plant-based for two out of three meals a day. There are countless easy-to-follow recipes online. And in the process, you will refine your tastebuds and awaken your senses to more subtle flavors and textures.
Incorporate these habits for your #health and #longevity-- and enjoy the added "side-effect" of a better physique!
