Electrodiagnostic Testing

Electromyography (EMG), or electrodiagnosis, is a test that measures the electrical activity of your muscles. It helps doctors understand how well your muscles and nerves are working. During the test, small, thin needles are inserted into the muscle to record electrical signals while you relax or move the muscle. This test can help identify nerve or muscle damage, conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, or other neurological disorders. It’s generally quick, but you might feel some discomfort or a mild sensation as the needles are inserted. The results can help your doctor diagnose the cause of your symptoms and guide treatment options.
Dr. Kurra performs this specialized test at CT Sports Recovery. She is board-certified in electrodiagnostic medicine and has a wealth of knowledge in the field.
